Hello,
I've just received a lurvely new hope mixer headset and the top part (intergrated 1 1/8) comes with three very thing silver spacers between the bearing and headset cover - are these to decrease drag from the sealing? Why are they there?

(on a separate note, lets see if the hope lasts ๐Ÿ˜€ )

it's in case the top cap drags on the frame

Try with all 3 in, if the lip of the seal is making contact with bearing housing, leave them in. If it doesn't touch, remove 1 at a time and so on. I usualy end up with 2 in mine, and if need be, if the seal/housing wears over time, remove another ๐Ÿ˜‰

Interesting! My only confusion then is why the need for spacers, surely the distance between the top-cap and bearing should remain the same? Unless it is purely a design to allow for rubber seal wear, in which case kudos to Hope (Y) (surprised they dont advertise it tho!)

It's not just hope that inc those spacers and they are very useful as not all frames are exactly the same

But most of the time they are included with an integrated headset where tolerances can vary,

I never understand why they come with either a press in or semi integrated headset.
