Can someone confirm that it's OK to use SRAM X0 Gripshift with an SLX/XT [u]front[/u] Mech? 3x9, if that makes a difference.
Also, apart from a tenner and a few grams, any difference between XT and SLX?

Yep.
I've got SLX doubles on the bikes now, replaced an XT one, and they seem to work exactly as well but they do look and feel cheap and nasty where XT feels solid and quality. Whether that matters to you or not is the question 😉
