Hi, does anyone know if the Solarstorm type connectors are available separately?

They seem more waterproof than the connectors used on the Magicshine type lights, and I have recently got a few of the waterproof type battery boxes, which use the screw on type connector, so I would like to change the cables on my lights if possible.

Small related hi-jack, anyone seen a SSX2 extension lead, with the screw on connectors, anywhere?

I made my own extension leads and Y splits so I can run two lights from one pack

Chopped all the connectors off mine and replace them with AMP superseals from ebay,
as you'd find on most cars. Waterproof, lock in place and will never wear out.

Make sure you get the kit with the combined strain relief / waterproofer. I forgot and ended up wrapping self amalgamating tape around the end. They're still waterproof without these it just makes the job neater.

Damn cheers again, had found what I thought was the right one, but it was for a "0.5-1.5mm Wire".

Any tips on chopping the battery cable without shorting it out?

Gently cut along the length of the cable outer insulation for about 3cm to expose the inner two wires. Separate them from the insulation & then cut them individually at different points so there's less likelihood of them being able to touch. Complete the wiring of one circuit into the plug before starting on the other.

I crimp and solder the connections. Don't forget to add the strain relief seal, then the rubber grommets before you start connecting up!

Hi, thanks, that would be great, I'm in no rush, I'm happy to pay postage. How can I send you my address?

They look ideal, can I ask how easy they are to use without the proper crimp tool? The official tool is pretty pricey.

I have a ratcheting crimp tool for bullet connectors, would this be usable or do you really need the proper tool?

Getting one of the waterproof battery boxes is a nice option, as you can simply remove the batteries if you need to replace the battery connector.

Yeah the tyco tool is expensive. I use one of the cheapo combination crimp/wire stripper tools as my ratchet is way too powerful.

I'm guessing the tool you use looks pretty similar to this?

They are only a fiver from screwfix, so I'll pick one up and give it a go. ๐Ÿ™‚

My connectors arrived today so I might spend some time tonight (with a tool like the one above) putting it all together. It's actually to connect a Kemo 172N rectifier into my Revo dynamo light.

Hypnotoad, that's similar to (better than) the one I've got. The genuine tyco tool anvils look like this:

Whereas the anvils on my hos just look like this:
