Purchased some solar storm x2 lights last year after all the good reviews, also bought a separate battery pack from torchy boy although had a lot of problems with the battery's he kept sending which failed after each time I charged them..anyways, finally the third battery he sent me actually had no problems with up until now which I notice after a full charge the light seems to go dim after about half hour of riding...the battery I purchased from him was the li-on 7.4v 6600mAh which suppose to last on full power for 5 hours apparently..to be honest I don't have a clue with lights so not sure if it's the light or the battery that's the problem, any advise would be much appreciated. Cheers.
Are you still using the original charger from the Solar Storm? if so, it might be that as some of the cheaper Chinese lights have terrible chargers.
What charger are you using?
It could be the battery (they don't like being left for long periods as they eventually go flat and die). But after killing so many batteries it seems more likely to be something else killing them.
Are the cells protected from over discharge? If one cell's been over discharged then it won't charge, so you're only charging the other cells, which will kill them quickly if they're charging and discharging at a higher current than they're intended to.
The best option might be to invest in a separate charger like the nitecore ones, and batteries and a box to put them in. That way the cells are always balanced, and if one fails you don't have to bin the whole battery.
Can't remember if you get a charger with the battery I bought from torchy, so it could be one that came with the solar storm pack although I did buy them from Hong Kong it doesn't have the Chinese adapter, it's a UK charger.
Cheers anyhow, think I'll have to ditch the battery then and buy a new battery and a better charger... ๐
I have one of these chargers, the on that came with the lights is useless

You don't get a charger with a Torchy battery. I have three of of Jim's batteries one is three years old and still fine. Get a decent charger ๐
yes, 3 duff batteries form someone with a good reputation for batteries sounds like the charger and/or light.
Maybe should have bought a light from Torchy or mtbbatteries in the first place.
Ok cheers, I'll buy one of them chargers then asbrooks..never thought a charger could knacker a battery maybe just not charge them properly...anyhow, cheers for the advice
A duff charger shouldn't knacker a battery, it just won't charge so you'll have zero run time..

I hope this is true as then I only need to buy a charger, but the charger I use does charge and the green light comes on after about 3 hours charge but the lights go dim after half hour in use, that's the problem.
