Any tips for fastest recovery once past initial period ?
Obviously stretching, but what about heat, cold, ultrasound, massage, hot baths, cold baths, homeopathy, etc ?
I've got a mystery 'soft tissue injury' in my 4th finger after a fall before Xmas where I broke my 5th metacarpal. It's still not bending past 90 degrees and hasn't improved in about 6-8 weeks. (This is apparently unusual and I'm now off to see a hand surgeon, so hopefully yours is more straighforward).
Anyhow, my physio has advised warming the joint in water for about 5 mins then stretching it while keeping it immersed in the warm water, plus obviously trying to keep it in use. Ultrasound was her first option but that didn't seem effective (for me), so it's now getting some uncomforatble manipulation when I go in - that has a small short term effect but that reverts quickly ๐
hand surgeon always sounds frightning - amputation keeps springing to mind! - I got threatened with being referred to one once as well.
Mines just my collarbone area - doctor said it could take another 9 weeks to go down, so that would be 12 weeks away from the bike ๐
