anyone use soft shell trousers for wet weather riding, or are they a bit too warm for it?
I've worn mountain equipent soft-shells for a short ride on a very cold day, they were fine but if its not really cokd you be cooking, they do lighter weight ones though which might be better , mart
I've used some Paramo Cascadia pants. They have good side zips for venting if you start to get warm and are pretty weatherproof. Did 30 miles in them on sat and was comfortable all ride.
i have an old pair of decathlon bouldering soft shell trousers that have been great for cold days
I've got 2 pairs of Gore Fusions, 1 pair of 3/4s and a full length pair, really toasty but nice, use full lengths in the winter, dead comfy not waterproof though, I'd recommend them though, in fact nearly bid on another pair last night on ebay.
to be honest i need em for the warmth as much as the wet now.
i am a big cold girls blouse nowadays........ ๐
"Soft Shell" is too broad a term to make any sweeping generality - e.g. the old Gore Fusions that were fleece lined? No way I could go cycling in them. Montane Pertex? That would be fine.
Something like Schoeller Dryskin would be fine, though I'd always be more concerned about the cost of it vs the likelihood of ripping it ๐
I used some Endura Singletrack trousers last winter and they were warm enough.
Bearing in mind your recent threads on being cold Ton, you might find something lined/thicker works well for you.
I tried riding trousers & hated them, might have been the ones I had but really bad.
Have you tried bib tights?
Yeah, yeah I know your a bigger kind of bloke, but its not a fashion parade. Some things just work best for biking in.
