As winter is closing in I'm thinking of getting a pair of soft shell pants.
I'm looking for something that I can wear all day long that is warm and comfortable.
Anyone have a pair that they can recommend.
I'm considering Mammut Base Jump Advanced pants or TNF Diavolo soft pants.
Any other ideas?

it's not clear what you're expecting to be doing all day in them - this might change the answer quite a lot.

Mammut base jump are excellent for summer alpine climbs and winter walking so long as the weather doesn't get too bad. They come in a huge range of sizes too which is good if you're not a standard shape.

I wear a pair of Vaude softshell trousers from years ago, forget which model, but they are close fitting and have optional braces and velcro adjustable hems. Vaude do some nice cycling stuff, which I think Scott use.

It will be do -it -all pants, I am not an office worker, spent a lot of the day outdoors .
Jeans are not very warm in the winter and tracksuit pants are a bit , chavvy ...
Corduroy are for old men.
I have a Columbia Titanium soft shell jacket that gets a let of use because it is really comfortable , so I thought soft shell pants would be a good choice for winter.

I have Mammut Base pants. I wear them when sailing and walking, excellent for both and I think they'd work for what you want. I have some cheap Craghoppers too, not quite as glam though. Also have a look at Columbia. Check sizing on Mammut, IMO you need to try them on. I have quite a bit of Mammut kit, some of it more than 10 years old and still going strong (although clearly not worn everyday, just holidays)

Have never seen soft shell pants. Does it not get too warm wearing them under your trousers?

Decathlon has some soft shell trousers and jackets within their range, decent prices too last time I was in.

sputnik - it does sound like soft shell pants will do what you want. Beware that some are very very warm though you can usually tell by the price. I love my base jumps and they're very adaptable - if I damaged them they'd get replaced with the same.

Or maybe not...

I guess it depends if you wear underpants or not ๐Ÿ™‚

Patagonia Guide here - superb trousers, really tough and warm. A bit overkill for the high street. Nearly 10 years in and battered, but still working.
If it is that cold normally, I use thermals below - much warmer, lighter, more adaptable and dry better.
I find I wear my 'summer weight' Patagonia, Arcteryx and Salomon trousers lots, with thermals as needed - much more than the uber heavy Patagonia's.
