...because I've just pressed the 'buy it now' button on amazon.
For £55 it can't be that bad can it?
Nice!
there not bad for what they are, I got myself one from tescos, you don't get the said 30fps advertised you only get about 20fps, I believe people are getting closer to the 30fps with the cheaper ebay ones...
heres some footage from my movie cam

Cam
I got the bug with it though and have just upgraded with a Contour HD 8)
I took a punt on the £12 Ebay one. Its incredable the video quality for such a tiny lighweight thing. 720 x 480 @ 30fps on this one with a class 6 micro sd card. Daylight video is great with no wobble and i'm genuinley impressed but night time video is not that great. The only downside so far is the battery performace. Only getting about an hour when charged off the USB port. Might be better from the mains adapter? yet to try that.
grimy you got a link? ill take a punt at that price
They're not bad. Plays perfectly acceptably on my netbook at full screen. Does break up a bit if it gets really bumpy, and it needs the fastest micro SD card you can lay your hands on. Still, not bad at all.
The 12 quid one i got off flea bay seems to give better quality video that the muvi ones i've seen.
If I were you i would cancel ASAP and save yourself 43 quid.
@craig - what speed was the SD card you were using for that footage? I've got a class6 on order as well.
Great tunes btw. Do you have any comparative footage from the contour?
I hadn't seen the cheapo one on ebay....at £12 I would get a couple to record from various angles.
Any links?
There is 43 pages of discussion on the Ebay ones over on bike radar. All you need to know is there.

nice one, cheers. ill go grab a beer...
Hmmm at £12 it would seem rude not too. Especially considering how good my DX light has turned out....
DT78 - I'm using a class 4 card, one of my friends has the same cam as me and runs a class 6 card, I'm afraid it makes no difference, I contacted veho about the fps issue and here is what they said
Hi Craig
The software on the Muvi was originally developed to work at 30FPS, however it has since transpired that the average is closer to 20-25 FPS. We are about to release a new model, our Muvi Pro, which has a framerate enchancement software that should enable users to film at 30FPS. We apologise for any inconvenience caused.
Many Thanks,
Veho Tech Team
I'd go for the ebay option, apart from the crazy price difference, I'm a bit peeved about the fact they claimed up to 30fps and are only able to get 19.5fps 👿
not had a chance to put any footage from the Contour 720p together yet, but I can say it's well good.. 😉
just got one 🙂
So I thought I'd update this thread....
I ordered both the muvi and the one of ebay for £12 (as I'd already bought off amazon)
Muvi turned up very quick, and with the handlebar mount kit for £30 and the extreme mount kit for £15
Charged it up to take out yesterday....
First thing that went wrong was the handlebar mount snapped as I tightened it. I was being careful and it only just fitted over OS bars. Bit pissed off, but I used some of the straps to fit it to the stem with the handlebar mount.
Noticed it was vibrating alot too much I thought for a decent picture. When I got it home, it had not recorded anything even though it signalled it was recording (before and after home tests being fine). Something had also shook loose inside so now there was a distinct rattling which sounds very loud on the footage.
Other observations - the silcon cover to weather protect it means it doesn't fit in any of it's mounts. I'd be worried about getting dirt/grit in it. It only lasts for about 2 hours on full charge.
All in all very very disappointed. The lot has been sent back to amazon for a refund.
The ebay one at £12 is still on it;'s way. tbh for that amount it's almost disposable so I'll see how it goes.
Got one 2 weeks ago, or there abouts, have used the clip mount and to be sure use a posties elastic band around it and also the neck cord i loop around the handlebars, then tape it to the bars.
Seem to get about35 minutes recording on the sd card it came with, and the new sd card i bought today from Staples, gives about an hour and a bit of recording.
Maplin also sell them for 50 quid, with the sports kit, but under a different name and bright red.
excellent little thing it is,
bad luck with the muvi, hope you get a refund!
also hope the eay one is alright cos im waiting for mine too. if they are any good i might get a few more for gifts, experimenting with various positions etc, see if i cant get a discount on the postage with a larger order or something.
Yea so many good things said about these little cameras I reckon I was just unlucky. I'll wait and see about the one from ebay. It[s got me thinking though that I really really want a decent helmet camera now....
class 10 SDHC here http://www.lowpricememory.co.uk/Pretec-8GB-Class-10-SDHC-Memory-Card.html for £17.95
wow! thats not much more than i paid for a class 6. will it actually make any difference with this particular camera or is 6 as good as is necessary?
not a clue, was looking for class 6 and found the above
slowrider - I think that link is for a sd card, you need a microsd for the muvi camera. Good spot though, tempted to get one for my compact.
mine turned up on saturday £2.89 + postage, not played with it yet, but for that amount who cares!
taking mine out tomorrow, ill ppost something on here if i can work out how to edit it and stuff...
With cheap little cams you don't get built in stabilization. Good news is you can download it free here to doctor things up a bit later.
(you can also cut off the date and time if you play around with it)
Hmmm I'm still waiting on the one I ordered off ebay (about the same time as your guys). Did it come via royal mail?
air mail i think, thrown the wrapping away now, took about 2 weeks
They're selling them in our Tesco for £9 at the moment. I got the £12 off fleabay one a while back. I'm gutted. That's a whole pint I could have saved.
Mine arrived today. First impression - not as good quality as veho - push buttons instead of slide, and plastic rather than alloy case.
I just hope it lasts more than one ride!
Going to pop my head into tesco's on the way home. Might get another one 🙂
I've tried my £12 el-cheapo one a few times now - got a roll of industrial strength velcro and have stuck bits on my rucksack, jacket and helmet - also, of course, on the back of the camera.
I just can't get the bl00dy position right though - keep getting twenty minute vids of my left hand, or the sky, or my jacket lapels flapping about 😡
I'll persevere....
user-removed, i had this t'other day, ended up getting a nice, clear video of my foot going down a hill.
i had a little play with it this morning and found that if you take the mounting bracket without the magnets or the clip, unscrew the little screws that hold the camera clip to the bracket and turn it over so the camera mounts upside down. then mount it on top of your helmet so the camera sits down in to the central front vent with the camera the right way up (if that makes sense)and zip tie it in place its pretty easy to get it at the right angle. ill put a pic up later or tomorrow but im at work now.
i got one off flea bay and am very suprtised at quality of footagewith a class 6 card. bit of a pain setting angle though.
agreed, its a shame you cant plug it in to something to check the angle like your phone or something. still, at £13 its not that bad really!
Hmmm - there's a thought - my crackberry takes micro sd cards. I suppose you could take a quick test vid, then put the camera's card in the phone to check it.... Perhaps... Off to check! And slowrider, yes please, I'd like to see a pic of that if poss.
EDIT: No.
sorry, still havent found my camera so no pics.
i did however find in my local tesco that they are selling the muvi extreme sports pack for 2 quid. it said a tenner on the shelf but when they scanned it it was 2. bonus!
Got the cheapo 12 quid ebay one and have played with it a few times. Pretty impressive, especially considering the price.
Bonus today was that I realised the GPS mount I had mistakenly bought months ago is perfect as a bar mount for it.
This. Th camera snigs nicely into the Gap.

FWIW heres my 1st video using Sellotape mount
