Just got back from a few days solo ride to Snowdon, few poor pics.
Day 1: Cardiff to the Black Mountain
Set off 10'ish Saturday morning, stunning weather throughout the day, hardest task of the day was dragging a full pack up R47 up the road out of Pontypridd, arrived on the Black Mountain around 6'ish to find a huge wash of black cloud arriving in from the east, no stars tonight.
Day 2: Black Mountain to Corris
Weather seemed to get worse as each day went by, a quick stop for a bacon roll in Tudars Llandovery before heading out towards Llyn Brainne, made the BP garage on the A44 for 4pm so decided to make my way over to Mach via the fishermens retreat on the back of Nant-Y-Arain,
Dicks diner was shut! nightmare, kebab shop made for a sorry end to the day, struggled for a campsite around Corris but a kind farmer came to the rescue late in the evening. stunning night, shame I was opposite some road works that made the tent glow red/amber/green throughout the night!
Day 3: Corris to Capel Curig
Dark clouds gave way to rain/hail/horribleness by mid-day, made my way along Sarn Helen over to a cracking decent into Pentre-Bont and over into Capel Curig for the night.
Day 4: Snowdon > Rangers path > Porthmadog
Woke early as aching legs would allow and road over to Llanberis to start the walk to the summit, not as bad as I remembered, made decent time getting to the top just intime to enjoy the fog and ice.
Rangers path was made for a rigid!

Headed to Beddgelert to stop for a pastie before heading to some village I'll never be able to pronounce on the Porthmadog line to get the train home.
Awesome!
I'd love to do that trip!
Sounds like a good trip, very envious.
Not the most descriptive of posts, but I'm too tired to think straight at the moment.
brilliant have been thinking of ideas for a trip that me and a friend could do,
did you only just have a rucksac?
must have been a fair weight to carry on the shoulders,
Kind of, tent/sleeping bag (in a drybag) plus food and a bit of kit in the rucksack, tubes and tools in the saddle bag and night clothes bungeed to the bars in another dry bag.
Not sure how much the sack weighed overall but I've done a few trips like this now so I'm kind of used to it. The tents fairly light too, helps a lot.
Water and meths on the bike keeps the weight down too.
I dont understand the problem with rucksacks on bikes - I find it far easier than having things attached to the bike, even with a couple of stone in there?
well I would prefer not having the weight on the shoulders to be honest,
did a recent touring trip to Scandinavia and there would be no way i would carry heavy weight on my back and shoulders,
having a pannier means the bike is bearing the weight and not you,
so making it easier,
dont have a problem with rucksacs 🙂
just long trips doing a lot of miles would take its toll on the body!
One word
Inspiring
Another word for the ridget forks
Mad or hard (delete as approprate)
Ranger path fully rigid - RESPECT 😯
Dan- nice one, well done!
Penrhyndeudraeth?
definately inspiring, not sure how i'd get on riding/pushing up Snowdon with all the kit though.
Oh brilliant, well done.
Why do you say that the Ranger path is made for rigids.
