[Closed] Snapped Pawl Springs - Trail/Roadside Fix?

Can't see how this is possible without taking out a load of tools in the unlikely event of this happening, but...

Second time I've snapped a pawl spring on a ride, this time I lost all engagement and for the first time ever had to phone for rescue (didn't fancy the near 20 mile walk in road shoes getting colder by the minute).

Any known get-me-home fixes for future reference?

If it's a Hope hub you can use the locking end of a ziptie.

Fulcrum unfortunately, one spring holds all 3 pawls unlike the Hope design.

Once the freewheel goes quiet it's a waiting game...

I once zip tied my cassette to the spokes. That worked but only for a few miles - just don't forget to keep pedaling.... I suspect with maybe three zip ties you could make it further. New hub time.

It's an easy enough home fix, just unlikely to be carrying a cassette tool and chainwhip.

Zip ties around the spokes may work on anything not pointing up I guess...

Service the hub more often if you know the springs are made of cheese. Easy job to save a lat of hassle

'Nice' wheels have long been on my shopping list and use these for winter.

Not sure I trust them though...

How often do you find it goes? I've got a fair amount of miles on my red zones which use that design, no issues so far...

I daresay you could fix it with a bit of suitable wire.

Probably not all that bad tbh (one last winter, one this), should probably just follow Andys advice and whip off the freehub for a clean up a bit more often.
