A mate of mine was cycling on the road when he suddenly lost control of the bike before coming off. Turned out the forks had snapped just above the crown. He took it back to the shop where he bought it. They called Specialized who said the forks are only guaranteed for two years and there was nothing they could do. Bike shop said the same. I saw the forks and there was no sign of any wear or any indication forks were about to go. Bike was about five years old.
Just wondering what people thought and if anything like this has happened to anyone.

What bike is it, how much use etc....

5 years isn't bad. I'd buy some new forks.
