[Closed] Smart trainer (specifically Elite Direto) confusion

So, I'm thinking of buying a smart trainer - specifically an Elite Direto which supports Bluetooth and ANT+.

I plan to use the trainer for structured workouts, and the Elite MyETraining app seems ideal for this (and you get a year free with the trainer). ย What I'm confused about is how it all connects together.

Presumably I can use the app on my iPad and the trainer will connect via Bluetooth and transmit power data. ย However, my heart rate and cadence sensors are ANT+. ย Do these send data to the trainer, which then sends it to the app? Or, do I need to get an ANT+ dongle for my iPad?

The direto sends cadence that it calculates so you don't really need your cadence sensor. It doesn't forward values so you'd need someway of connecting you HRM to the iPad. There are cheap Bluetooth HRMs available so might be able asier just to get one of those.

True, but the cadence sensor is more accurate so I'd prefer to use that. ย I'm thinking the easiest (and cheapest) way of doing it would be to use my MacBook instead of the iPad and get an ANT+ USB dongle.

Yes, if you want to use your sensors. I have a Wahoo one to do the same thing and it works fine, but you'll also need the lightning adapter.

If you're using a MacBook just get the Wahoo ANT+ USB thing. I also have that and it works well.
