I friggin' love Rocky Mountain frames...probably the paint jobs. Just awsome-sauce.
nice bike, I always liked the look of slayers.
I did have a Limited edition Etsx which was stunning. red and black.
I miss my red/white Slayer. Very underrated.
To my shame it's only had one outing to Wales. 😥 but it was brilliant.
David what happened to your Slayer?
That is smart! did you have to remove the shock to get the air in the Propedal chamber?
No you don't have to remove it, you can just get the cap off and the shock pump on.....have to use both index fingers to do it though 😕 Running about 220 PSI in the propedal but I weigh 13.5 st.
You sound like your a similar weight to me and I think I need that sort of psi, but is that not above the recommended psi?
Yep it is, my fault.
215-220 psi in the shock and about 125-130 in the propedal. That gives a nice traction when climbing over rocks and roots.
I went the opposite way and ramped the Propedal to 175psi and the main shock to 160psi to give me the correct sag of around 20-30%, but It bobs a bit too much so think I may try your method.
I'm running a 2007 DHX4 shock, but they should be similar pressures. Have a go at getting the cap off as taking the shock off every time you make an adjustment will be a complete ball ache!
Looks.....fun!
Did they give you a slayer frame, or did you ask for one?
I thought the ETSX's replacement was the altitude?
Also, was that build on the ETSX? It all looks very beefy to go onto one?
Well maybe not, Its the fork that looks like a Wotan (that I suspect may be a Thor?) thats beefing up the look of it#
Looks good
both methods are a ball ache! but once its done so I can climb with less bob I can't wait!
James. Well I asked for the Slayer upgrade as the Etsx frame crack while I was in Spain, Rocky were great but I had to pay a small fee for the upgrade.
Hence the slightly beefy fork (wotan) to cope with the demands of Spain which is harsh to say the least as one broken frame proves.
But I must add I'm not the lightest rider and tend to head straight through the quickest line and not the smoothest.
Love the colour. Rocky paint always looks so good.
I hope the crack wasn't anything to do with sticking a 160mm fork on the front of the etsx! ie around the head tube. Though its been exchanged on warranty now, so I don't suppose that matters?
Matta, was that out with switch-backs last Sept as someone also had the same problem on a RM?
GlenG. It was indeed in Spain last sept, not sure if I had the crack before
I left for Spain or not but I definatly made it worse!
Sorry GlennG
