Chaps,

Quite fancy building up a slack 4" frame ....

Struggling to come up with any viable alternatives though...

Ideally, looking for a trail bike as opposed to a 4x frame (old Meta 4 was an amazing bit of kit, but not for climbing!!)...

Depending on the frame, offset bushes or an angleset will help with geo.

Current shortlist:

Trance X
Meta 4

I'd rather go nearer 4 than 3".....

Other options?

I was looking for the same thing. Closest I got was a kona kikapu. 4 inches of travel and a 68.5 head angle.

Other option is an old giant trance 06/07 with offset bushings/works headset.

SC Blur xc Carbon - 68.5 headangle with some 120mm forks - not as xc biased as some might think!

Intense Tazer VP is 3.25"-4" adjustable with a 68 degree HA. It is proper small though!

Look out for an old Kona Howler. They did them in red for 2006 and then green and white for 2007. I had one and swapped the 200mm eye to eye shock for a 190mm coil and it slackened it and lowered it beautifully. The seat angle is pretty steep anyway, so climbing didn't suffer. Can't take a front mech though so it's 9 or 10 speed only. Superb fun bike that I should never have sold really.
