Hey Chaps,
After my missus being unable to ride anything but road at the moment, and us not having any road bikes - she's been riding her XC bike on the road.
I'm running 2.0 Maxxis Pace tyres at the moment, but can you get anything thinner?
They're 30mm ID rims, 34mm external I think - so I would have thought a 34ish tyre would work. Does anyone do anything like that?

You're limited by the 30mm rim. Lots of off-road tyres square off at that width. I can't imagine you'll get below 2.25".
Maybe look for something rounded with a tall crown and crank up the pressure. 2.4" ardent is pretty light, tall and round in 30mm.
Stick 40psi in those and I bet I light rider wouldn't use much more than 30mm of the centre tread.

I've got 38-40mm CX tyres on 30mm outer (~26inner) 29er Crest rims and they look fine. Vittoria Tereno if that's of any use as a recommendation. I'd say anything ~45mm (1.9" before it got rebranded in metric for gravel) should be fine.
I'd guess 42mm+, given I've got a 23mm on 622-17 rims.
recommending what i know - though i use the 26" version
low rolling resistance. even lower when tubeless. would guess tyre pressure mid-30s psi. also okay on gravel
28 x 1.6 tubeless probably best option? wiggle have them

If I'm reading it correctly, the chart suggests a 2.0 as the lowest recommended on a 30mm rim. I'm running a 2.25 Thunderburt on a 30mm internal, it's still pretty bulbous, so reckon that would be about right...
Crumbs! I put a set of 700c x 38 Vittoria Voyagers on some 30mm internal diameter wheels for commuting purposes. They've been great. Went on tubeless and set to 40psi.
