My Sister has asked me to look for a Sit Up and Beg type bike for her.
I've looked about, and hope to find an old (1980's-1970's) age frame, which i can give a lick of paint, and then put some components on it!
Does anybody know any of the classics frames of that era? Raleigh, BSA etc.
Looking around the £80 pricemark if possible!

I really like them for a traditional style ladies frame.
most bikes can be converted.
wider saddle.high rise stem,super riser bars,like the nc17 trekking ones.a cheap light xc mtb frame,some steel rigid forks,big apples,vees,1x8.tyres,pedals and grips are what she'll notice most.
and fit.obviously.

Decided on the cheep and cheerful Sturmey archer 3 aw speed, and a front dynahub!
Brakes I'm stuck on though!
does anybody know what type of brake leevrs tend to fit on these kind of bikes?
Normal flat bar ones afaik.
I'd be very temtped to just buy a complete, new bike like a Pashley Princess - lots of stuff on these bikes like hub braked wheels that I'd imagine will be expensive to get aftermarket and you may end up spending more on parts than a new build would cost.

My wife used to have a Raleigh Campus which is what you're talking about, sit up and beg 70s bike. Rather than just the frame, we got the whole bike for £80 and it was in good condition, we only got rid when she got a mountain bike.

no, but if you're looking for a classic style bike then they sort of fit in with 'the look'?

is £270 - you'd struggle to build it for that from parts, I think?

you can build up a cheaper,lighter faster more comfortable bike for less.plus it will fit better.

saddle,up to her.some cheap light seatpost.
pitlock skewers.sks fenders.klickfix basket/handbag/shopping bag.
I'm sure you could do all that,new, for less than the pashey costs.it'll weigh a fair bit less and be more comfortable.
