After previous help from the collective I have ordered a pipedream sirius so now starting to work out where to find kit within budget. The shed is showing up a few things but struggling to find a fork at a decent price new ...looking at second hand but dont know the length of steerer tube - does anyone know approx what length needed. Or can anyone point me in the direction of a decent fork sub £400?
Also need some wheels but there seems to be more around on those - though hunt out of stock till August ...
Thanks all
Maybe try and pick up a Rockshox Reba - should find one new within that budget. Only 100-120mm travel so a 32mm chassis should be ok. Doubt you’ll pickup a Fox 34 new for that budget and the same for the 35mm SID.
Sirius has a 105mm head tube according to the Pipedream site. Allow about 20mm for the headset (EC lower, ZX upper) and 40 for your stem, and give yourself 20mm for spacers - call it 190mm steerer needed, might get away with less.
At that sort of budget I'd be looking at something like the suntour axon if you can find any stock. They can be had new at that and are imo much better than the equivalently priced rs or marz/fox options.
Currently out of stock but I happened to have the tab open as I'm considering replacing my pikes as I think the damper is blown.
I'd 2nd the recommendation for a Reba, I've got the similar 35 but it would be overkill for shorter travel (it's overkill on a hardtail full stop really).
Thanks for help ...will use the 190 mm steerer to trawl ebay but also those suntour axon look good if any in stock anywhere ...
