how much would you guys pay to have a steel frame converted. would £100 including powdercoating sound reasonable

this wold include basic trackends, removing all unwanted bits and possibley adding a disc mount (might be £20-230 more)

just realising I''ve done 5 or 6 of these and had a few people as how much I'd charge for doing one for them

Depends what guarantee comes with the work. Seems very reasonable for what's involved to do the job 'right'.

i paid £60 to have to have a set of track ends put onto old nurvex lugged frame,, that was labour only as i supplied all the parts

cheers for the input, currently have a jig being made by an engineer friend as my old jig was pretty shonky but alway had good results. (currently only able to do rear end work bit working up to being able to replace any tube and hopefully in the next couple of years building full frames)

guarantee wise that's something that is hard to quantify, obviously it's hard to provide long term guarantees on used frames but I'd be willing to stand over my own work for a good few years

here's one I did last year that has finally be built up

vee bosses removed, cable stops removed and surly drop outs tig welded

sssimon - did that work ok with wheel adjustments, i.e., did the brake still contact the disc adequately?

Nice. Neat job there. I too wonder about disc alignment. Personally, I'd consider an EBB but that is a lot to change!

It's not just the frame alts but the paint finish too that would need a guarantee - in my mind.

Oh - and I'd pay £100 if I wanted it powder coating too, what price are you thinking just for the frame work minus powder coating? I've got an old frame I've been waiting to do this to...

works spot on with a 160 disc as the wheel moves along the axis of the mount and stays at the right height wherever the wheel is. ideally the mount would be slotted but it was on there already.

need to get my costings sorted but dependant on the price of the trackends £60 ish should be about right

Paint guarantee would be an issue, happy to guarantee the finish when new but if you can find me any company who warranties paint then you are doing well

Very good. Coat...
What make is it? Just curious, I don't recognize the h/tube gusset, but there are so many similar looking h/tails, it's only the likes of DeKerf/On-One with the distinctive rear wishbone that really stand out. Are those RockShox 130mm?

Wouldn't a medium have fitted better 😯

The Surly dropouts do look great, you seem to do a very professional looking job. I'm suprised you can get away without slotting the disc mounts. I know my XTR one's won't allow the wheel to slide out the back due to the angle of the caliper whereas my Hope one's are fine.

mike can get on the saddle at that height but his feet stop about 4 inches above the pedals.

really like working with the surly dropouts but the've just gone from 20quid to 30 so looking at offering a selection (usually depends on the original setup what works)
