I have a 2011 specialized camber. I have quite a lot of upgrades on the bike, to finish it off i would like to have a single front chain ring to save weight etc. my question is, is it just as simple as removing the granny ring and large ring from my front setup. I was under the impression that it uses spacers from the large ring to hold the middle ring?
youll probably need shorter bolts, or some fat washers
Yes, you need shorter bolts, or washers. You need something to keep your chain on too. If you've got a clutch rear mech then a narrow/wide chainring is the neatest, otherwise a top guide such as those from Superstar/MRP/E.13 is a good idea.
Does crc do the bolts? Im thinking a single chainring with blackspire stinger would be suffice?
I have a thick thin and although I have a clutch mech I often forget to put it on and the chain still stays on. This is over big drops, jumps and a bit of clattery downhills.

They should do you for a single ring up front.
Does crc do the bolts?
