[#797824]

Got 2.4 mountain king protection on my Orange Five (and yes i do like them)

The rear is worn a lot more than the front, is that best being left on the rear or would it be better to swap them both around

The edges on both tyres are fine its just the centre of the rear that is getting low

Sorry if its a silly question but i know how you all like to talk about tyres ๐Ÿ˜‰

Ride in the peaks most of the time so one second its bone dry the next its like a swap

Cheers

Andy

It would not be wise to put a worn tyre on the front, as that's where you really want the grip.

So best stick the front and the back and buy a new one for the front.

As waveydavey says, best to have more grip on the front - it's generally more recoverable if the rear loses grip, whereas if the front washes out you are screwed.

As the rear tyre wears out it will slowly lose grip, but also decrease its rolling resistance. So if it is not bothering you too much there is no need to change it - only change when you feel it is becoming a pain.

Meh. I'd swap them, front wheel grip is more crucial when cornering, you never lock the front wheel anyway.

I don't think it's black and white nor that it matters much.
