Thick fingers/dropped grommet/50 something eyesight...so; any idea where I can get a spare, is it likely to be something a bike shop keeps in stock?

Can you describe the part? Only small piece I can think of that's easy to lose is the cable grub screw.

If it's the cable stop grub screw thing I lost mine and I have replaced it with a tiny screw I found inside an old PC box and some super glue so hold it firm. It hasn't come loose yet.

Can you not just use a brake cable and use the large ferral part that normally goes in the lever blade? As long as your lever for the dropper can clamp the cable.
