Fortunate - we met an escaped ferret on our sunday ride, i tried to be nice to it but it tried to bite me then ran after us. ๐ฅ
mrsmw thought it was an otter as we approahed ๐
Yeah thats the Quiraing 8). A bit of walking, but good fun and stunning place
i tried to be nice to it but it tried to bite me then ran after us.
it was an escaped lethal desert attack ferret ๐ You are lucky to have survived the encounter.
i suspect it's now a flat desert attack ferret
Not got any pics but got a video.

Tracey
It had never occurred to me it would be possible to ride up there ๐
Hey Tracy, Pretty Sure that's Me & a Couple the lads in front of you there!
Were there 3 ladies & 1 man in your group?
it is indeed possible sfb, gets a bit tricky toward the gate though
Yes that would have been us
We ride it that way round so we can get a pub stop. Must be one of the best down hills with a pub at the end

Tracey
gets a bit tricky toward the gate though
yes, I'm embarrassed now as thinking back I've done it once, but I can only recall downhilling towards Cutthroat Bridge ๐ I think the combination of narrow gate with a step up is difficult...
we always used to ride it that way round as the descent down to cut throat bridge is very good in the dry
interestingly enough cut throat bridge is somewhat aptly named (i'm sure it has a previous reason for being called this) as a sheffield chipshop owner was beheaded by the triads in the layby over the road about 15 years ago. we saw the fire brigade washing the blood of the road 8)
Tracey - that climb is just plain nasty....starts of easy & ends up really leg-burny......
Ooooooh, extra points for chip butty pic.
EDIT - oh and no riding this weekend so no pics, although went into shed last night & Reba's (recently swapped onto new Inbred frame) have decided to lose all their oil past the u-turn adjuster (left upside down in shed)...... ๐
those chips will have been cooked by my brother Tracey, best washed down with a pint of Farmers Blonde, the girls are a little young for that, i'm sure Kev could manage though
Starting the descent from top of Cader Idris...
See more pics here if interested.
Great photos Chakaping, which path did you take up / down? Planing a trip next month! ๐
blue-mountain-goat - We followed this route.
The bridleway goes all the way up and it's the same route back. We followed it precisely, but some other bikers we met had skipped an early bit of bridleway in favour of staying on the access road for the ascent - which may have been a smart move.
The BW makes a better descent though.
Are you riding it on your unicycle?
Are you riding it on your unicycle?
That's the plan. Hope to ride up late afternoon, Bivvy near the top and ride down early the next morning.
Thanks for the info.
BMG - All the best with that.
The car park mentioned in that link would be a good spot to leave a car overnight, if you need to.
BMG - All the best with that.
๐
Found this under the M62 while doing the PennineX route on Sunday. http://twitpic.com/1ob249/full I never knew this existed in all my years of driving over the tops.
BMG - I saw you riding at that Brass Monkeys race, you'll probably get up Cader quicker than I did!
P20 - Member
Drove back from Skye at the weekend so no riding. This is from earlier in the week though
Its a pretty good piece of singletrack on the Quiraing. Did you do the descent on the otherside? If so, its quiet a nice way to drop back down onto the road outside of Staffin.
BMG - I saw you riding at that Brass Monkeys race, you'll probably get up Cader quicker than I did!
Possibly, you can climb quite quick on a MUni. I think it likely you would be quicker on the way down however! ๐
Ah Cha****ng, you were the guys we were playing leap-frog with on the way up. I was on the blue Titus Motolite. The Cadair Idris descent was fantastic!
Hello there, nice to chat with you guys. I was the one moaning about my heavy bike, but I was still glad I'd taken it for the ride back down.
The first third of that descent was amazing, and the rest was pretty good too. Did you guys get many flats? We just had two.
We didnt get any flats on the way down (we used up our allocation on Snowdon in the morning), but I managed to snap my mech hangar/snap the rear mech and rip a cable stop out of the frame, didnt stop me enjoying the rest of the descent though ๐
DrT - You didn't say you'd already polished off Snowdon. That's a hell of a double whammy!
Tracey and stumpy, me and my buddies call that climb, lactic slabs, an appropriate name i think.
