[#3270664]

I have a new full susser ( for bad back purposes ) and am in the process of selling my beloved 456. I can't quite give up the hardtails completely so am building up my Old DMR trailstar with some old z1 freeride forks and probably singlespeed set up . Just for when I fancy a truly ragged ride......don't want to spend too much on it though.
show me yours to get me all fired up!!!!

2005... been abused, thrown roughly to the ground on many occasions, memorably run over by another bike, lobbed off loads of stuff at Chicksands and various concrete obstacles back in the day when I cared little for my teeth 🙂

Now ridden pretty exclusively with the kids, but still an ace bike.

Ropey shots from Chicky. The only bike I can reliably bunnyhop.

Currently got rigid forks, slick tyres and a long stem though as I don't have a road bike at the minute so this is taking its place. Can't wait to get the Pikes serviced and get it back to being a proper mtb 🙂

10 year old frame, 10 year old forks. Still HUGE fun to ride when I don't need the tank-like capabilities of the Mr Hyde.

Yeah I reckon the Trailstar is the funnest bike I've had. Keep going back to it, despite it not being as stable downhill like the BFe was. Here's my first one after a dirt jump sesh. It cracked at the headtube weld 🙁

I've had a few over the years, as did most of my friends who did dirt jumping. I really likve them. I now have a Cotic bfe which I like cos it seems similar but just much bigger so I can ride xc on it.

First Trailstar

This cracked under the headtube, and DMR had it back off me to go on their wall and they sent me the frame below for £65 (Brand new)Apparently the champagne coloured horizontal dropouted with mtb bb ended up quite rare.

My last Trailstar.

I regret selling it to this day.

Does anyone know if you can safely remove the gear cable stops and file to smooth it flush to the trailstar frame? I only use full outers so they just sit there looking ugly and the one on the seat stay sometimes rubs my leg. I want to get rid of all the stops on mine and respray it/get it powder coated.

I did exactly that with my old frame, I ground them off but cutting them with a hacksaw and filing smooth would be just as good. I also chopped the dropouts down a bit since they were huge, and chopped the seat tube tube.

Cool cheers, sounds easy enough. How about those APS v-brake mount things? I don't have any intentions of using a v-brake so if I could easily get them off then I'd like to do that as well 🙂 They look pretty thick though.

Hacksaw and file would work on those I imagine, looks like they'd take about 16 hours to cut through though.
