Stay at the youth hostel at glen affric, then push up the valley through the bog. Worth it tho - one of the best descents in the UK I reckon.

stevenmuir, firstly that picture at the top of the descent to Loch Muick is awesome.
Those Ben Alder pics - how rideable is it down to the bothy, and what route did you take? I think the normal anticlockwise circuit would have you climbing that?
You're right. I attempted to walk up the river as the ground next to it was a bit soft, but with rocks the size of old minis and greasy to boot, it wasn't much better. But I thought it'd make a good pic to try and ride down some of it, it was also good to take a break from the hour of hike a bike. I wouldn't attempt it clockwise. Even if I wanted to do a descent from Beallach Dubh to Culra I'd probably do it as a there and back. I don't think you'd ride much from Culra to Ben Alder cottage.
