Yeah the budget just won't stretch to £200+ for a seatpost.

That would be my choice too.

This is mine. Pretty standard build but I've just put a Renthal Fatbar on it so it is silly wide!

I stripped my old Rock Lobster xc bike to build this one up and I'm really happy with it, much more plush and controlled on the rough stuff.

Here's my old one - it was fantastic.[img] [/img]
Replaced it with a Soda, which other than weight it's no better!

The 2nd iteration of mine is about 75% re-built, waiting on some finishing kit from CRC, but hopefully shaved about 5lbs in the process...

I stripped my old frame last night and have already taken the big ring off and put my bash on it. more bike fiddling over the next couple of nights before the build on fri/sat night. Probably going to have to pinch the brakes off my Enduro for a week or two unless somebody decides to buy my old frame today.

I think I might feign an illness so I can go home early and build it up. Shall we call it an early 30th birthday present to myself? More than excited.

More pics when I have the office to myself.

Cy must be gutted, he designed a hardcore frame, but everyone builds them up into mincing xc bikes.

Not everybody but there does seem to be a worrying amount that do. Didn't you buy yours because you wanted a more xc frame?

Gavin you need to change your settings the photo is private.

EDIT: Oh and David I know you don't like white forks but that's all I have so that is what is going on. Nothing else white unless I put my flat pedals on it.

Turning into a great thread with some lovely looking bikes.

I finally got round to my new build this weekend:

Its a 2011 gritstone in a medium with the following spec:
Magura Thors
1x9 sram x0 rear mech with x9 shifter, truvativ fire-x cranks & on-one 32T chainring (may up to 34T renthal) with sram 11-34t cassette. Superstar chaindevice.
Elixir Carbon brakes with floating rotors
Mavic EX721's
Thomson inline post and chargespoon saddle.
Superstar bars (that need cutting down) and 50mm stem.

I'm really pleased how its come out, I've built this to replace both a kona kula and a Remedy, once I've had time to cut the steerer and the bars down it'll be just about perfect.

Can't wait to get out on it now!

I'm hoping that todays rain and warmer temperatures will have washed all the snow away so I can get out tonight and see how it really feels without slipping all over the place.

Be interested to see how you get on with those Superstar bars Andy, what colour is that? I like the look of it, think it'd suit my Bullit nicely 🙂

_tom_ - its the flatland 780 bar in gunmetal. Almost a slight ice blue tinge to the colour but looks really nice. Kind of a similar to a Raceface atlas bar in shape i think. Silly wide at the moment though!

Next up will be a renthal 34t chainring and potentially a bash. Also need a replacement lever for the elixir carbon's as one is cracked, no idea where to get one. Can't seem to find straitline levers for elixirs either...
