Manufacturers are allowed tolerances. 10% is typical and this falls within 10%.

Maybe or maybe sue the digital scale manufacturer for selling inaccurate scales? ๐Ÿ™‚

If you hadn't weighed it your bike would be 55g lighter

cut a couple of inches off, that'll get the weight down

Compensate by going for a 55g poo before your next ride?

or cut some of the knobbly bits off the tyre, that should save a few gramms.

6.2% extra rubber, free!

Sounds like you've done very well out of that!

Ride it for a few weeks then weight it again. You'll eventually find it weighs what they claimed.

They all lie.

Bonty Mud X's in 26" are about 20% out - sticker vs actual.

Surely just return it to the store as it's not as described?

Or ride it and wear it down by 100 grammes?

Send it back (unused) and try another? Buy 5 and pick the lightest to keep? Wander around every LBS in the area with your scale? Being a Weightweenie is a commitment! Don't take the easy way out by gettin' all lawyered up!

Edit, I weighed it with the rubber band on. Took it off, it's bang on now.
