Just got back from my first time doing the Passportes du Soleil in the Alps. An amazing experience (with someone who knew where the singletrack was) but also the really long runs gave me more of an opportunity to actually notice where my suspension really works and where it doesn't and from that I've realised that my shock needs some valving work to get it to function properly. It's an RP23 which wasn't supplied with the frame. No labels on the shock to tell me what the tune is either.
I won't lay out my overly long thought processes about the options available to me except that, taking into account current new shock deals and comparing that to old shock servicing, it comes down to a few things.
How does/would an Rp23 (appropriately tuned) compare to a Monarch RC3 (appropriately tuned) for general year round up/down duties(I live on Dartmoor) with a few more descent based trips thrown in.
Will a Monarch Plus RC3 actually fit a 2012 Meta 55 (medium)? I know that at least one model of DHX air can be fitted by filing bits off the air valve to miss the linkage but this looks like it might just be ok. Failing direct experience with the actual bike, could some one give me a reasonably accurate measurement from the centre of the top eyebush to a line parallel with the bottom of the remote.
It's my birthday this week so I've got a window of opportunity.
Thanks.
