I was waiting for an espresso comment and it was there!

Fits my idea of what all roadies are like so I'll continue to think they're a bunch of weight obsessed, shaved leg, coffee drinking, Rapha loving fannies.

A more accurate Northern one would go:
'Alreet?'
'Aye, y'alreet?'
'Aye, not s'bad'

....sound of wheels on wet tarmac for 50 miles, with occasional gear change....

'I'll sithee then'
'Aye, sithee'.

Repeat for 30 years, until someone says 'Bob died last week'
'Did e?, be all that bloody chattering what did it'
'Aye, appen'..

Brass band to fade..

Very good ๐Ÿ˜€
Could add to the Northern version, this happened to a mate of mine who very slowly caught a group of old gimmers in the Dales.
"Hey up, are you going far?" Reply "What the f***'s it got to do with you?"

Crikey +1

At the start of yesterdays windy hilly RT. 'y'alright don't think there'll be any banter and the routes obvious'
64 miles later 'that was alright see ya Sunday'

Before the start of the same ride I overheard a bloke saying he was getting another lid as this one didn't hold his glasses properly.

An old ex pro I know works part time in a bike shop. When he sells tyres to dumbasses like that he brings out the posh stuff and explains that these are for European roads.....cue sound of till.

Crikey + another one!

There are some guys I have ridden with for years that i know little more about than their name and what bike they ride, and that's how it should be!

sound of wheels on wet tarmac for 50 miles, with occasional gear change..

Even the sound of a gear change can be a bit off on some days.

I said to a rider last week. 'Your leg warmers go under your shorts'

+1 Crikey

A few times I met a bloke who'd ride 50 miles, arrive at H's house to do an hour on the Computrainer, sit round for a couple of hours listening to old school racism and tales from the Olympics, before riding 35 miles home.

Never did find out his name.

It was like that when i rode in the 80s before cycling got mainstream, i've spent the last few years building and riding retro bikes trying to get the feeling back.

BS

that is "Shit Roadies who were MTBers say"

the reality is much more like crikey's version (very funny crikey) - even down South.

I would never acknowledge someone spending a week's wages on carbon wheels. A new bike might get a slight nod, but no more.

There are cheaper ways to remain silent...

I agree with the whole not really knowing people thing...

One of the regular riders on chain gangs and training rides was called Brian. I rode with him over 5 or so years, at least once a week. He never turned up one week, and I didn't see him for 2 years, until I was out one Sunday morning on my own and caught him up.

The conversation went:
'Hey up Bri, ain't seen you for a while?'
'Aye, wife got cancer so I had to stop in and look after 'er'
'Oh, er, you're riding again then?'
'Aye, she's dead now, so I bought a new bike'
'Er...'
'Campag, always ridden it'.

Again with the brass band...

I think at least one person in my local road club will say that every single time we go out...

I like "I need to get over to France and do some tour climbs". I've done a tour climb, it was ****. Like a normal long climb, only climbier, with another climb after it, followed by some climbing, then an ascent.

Funniest vid ever, BEST THREAD EVER !!!

These responses are what a cycling forum should be about, not the BS whinging & arguing that seems to characterise this pace..
