27.2 up to 30.9 viable long term fix or would you buy the right sized post.

Works fine IME but they do tend to let water run into the seat tube.

I'd buy the right size unless my 27.2 one was particularly special and hard to replace in the right size.

What he said, they are a PITA if you need to move or remove the post much too.

its a thomson i'll be using a use 100mm long shim so I expect it's going to be fine once it's in I wont move it.

If it's a Thomson, why not just swap it on the classifieds and get the right size - cheaper than buying a shim too!
