im going to defect over to shimano for brakes which would be the best option

what sort of riding? Zee are 'budget' dh brakes, with quad pistons, so wont be the lightest. XT would be more than adequate for all but the most extreme riding

XT will be fine, SLX if you want the same for less money.

Tried a mates new deores the other day. Compared to my elixirs they are brilliant.

I must say that if the xt's are better than deores then they'll be fine( unless you can boil the fluid all the time on any descents).
I will be going to shimano for my next brakes

I've got xt m785,awesome can,t praise them enough after years of avids and hopes.I love em

Got Zee on my enduro race bike - mental power and not too bad weight wise, but some would call them overkill.

Personally I like lots of available power to allow late braking and minimise arm pump, but it depends on the type of riding you do.
