Are these compatible? I have a spare SLX BB and my new Tiagra cranks for road bike came without a BB...

Check axel/spindle lengths.

yes, they're compatible.

I think you would need to use the spacer tube from a road BB, or just use them without.
MTB BB is designed for 68/73mm + E-type mech, so longer to accomodate that. Road is just 68mm with no spacers.
