I have couple of pairs of Shimano shoes. MT41s and MT42s, and they fit great at size 40. I am looking at a pair of MO87s, which seem to have a slightly different sole shape.
Has anyone got any insight/experience as to whether the fit is similar?

Not those in particular, but I have recently bought some am45s and some Ro64, both in 45. The am45 are a lot bigger. I suggest you try some on before you buy.
