My M525 freehub is on its way out. First thought was to get a new 525 hub and swap out the bits and pieces.
I figured it would be a lot quicker as I can get the hub locally but will have to wait for the freehub body to be delivered.
Turns out the hub I can get locally is a M525A and the freehub isn't the same and looking at the tech docs they are different.
I'm failing to see why swapping everything over won't work.
Anyone help on this.
The bike shop I asked seems to think it won't work but they don't know from experience.
My bike is used everyday so I need to fix it as soon as I can..
Thanks..
They have different seal-housings,so it's not a straight swap, though it may be possible to use the new axle and swap your brake side cones.I can't be more specific about possible problems you may encounter with differing OLND when doing this, as my only experience was rectifying somebody else's handiwork on a hybridised hub and a pile of left-over parts that may have been from more than two hubs.
Thanks coatesy. Saved me a wrenching headache.
Find it hard to understand Shimano changing seal housings; they had their reasons I suppose.
