So went to replace the pads and in trying to remove the retainer screw, I’ve managed to mess up the head and now cannot get any purchase with the screwdriver - tried using grips too but cannot get around the head at all - any solutions ?

Or will I have to replace the Caliper ?

Drill it out.

If you do mash the threads, you can just use a split pin to hold the pads in. All the Shimano replacement pads come with a new split pin anyway.

If it’s the pad retainer bolt that you normally use a hex key to loosen, just cut a slot in it and use a screwdriver to undo. Alternatively drive an oversize hex key into it to get purchase. You can buy the bolts as separate parts from wiggle

Tried larger hex and also thicker screwdriver head but as it’s not the hardest of alloys, the head is now destroyed - I’ll try drilling it and see how that goes

What size of bit would it require ?
