I went flat for 6 months last winter and use the AM41 flat shoes and loves how waterproof they were. My feet were warm even in the snow.
As i couldnt be arsed with flats anymore i went back to clipped in but bought the AM 45's as i was so impressed with the AM41's. They seam to let more water in and my feet get cold.
Im thinking of blocking up the vent holes and the side and silicon sealing around the cleat. Has anyone done this with a success story to share.

I put black gaffa tape on the insides over the cleats, seemed to sort the problem.
