[#1567828]

A service for my Fox Floats is , i think, long overdue.

Now I know I can put them in the post to Mojo and for £90 ish they will send them back to me all nice and working well, but I like to try to do things for myself on my bike, so...

Is this a job that I can do easily myself? (I've seem some instructions on the fox website and it loks fiddly, but not difficult) Are there service kits (oils, seals etc) easily available ?

Of should I just part with some cash and let the professionals do their work?

If your just changing wiper seals and oil seals in lowers, then its very straight forward. parts are easly had and motorbike fork oil is all you need

Very easy to do ,remember to compress the fork about 40mm and hold with a belt to stop the bottom nuts from spinning (might not spin on floats i have vans). 7.5wt fork oil and put 10mm or so more than fox say in the legs. Not sure about the air seals etc but the dust wiper seals are easy to replace but if your not its worth taking the foam rings out (a little fiddly without taking the seals out) and soaking them in thick oil. Also its a lot easier if you take the fork off your bike.

Ok cool, I will go for it then. Just searching for some kind of kit on the googleweb, but can't see anything obvious with the oil and fox juice ready to go

you can get a kit from here

or cheaper and enough for two/three services of fork oil but not grease or syringe(don't really need a syringe)

Pop your seals in the freezer for a while before you need them, this makes fitting them loads easier as they are very tight.
