Offered to 'service' a mate's bike in return for a ski loan. One of his brake calipers is seized so 2 questions;

1 - How do you remove MPH pads? (haven't googled it yet, but if anyone knows much appreciated).
2 - Whats the best way to free seized calipers? GT85 / WD40?

I usually find that Finish line wet chainlube works well for freeing up sticky pistons - get it pushed well out (Not all the way!), clean, soak in lube and then leave to soak.

If the calipers are similar to the Hope C2 that they're based on, be careful about pushing the pistons too far out. They're supposed to unscrew once you've split the caliper, pushing them too far will break the land that holds the return spring retaining clip.

Before you go too far.....is it a case of the brake "jammed" on? It's a closed system and prone to locking due to expantion over time. I've had loads of MPH back for servicing that merely need a bit of fluid letting out. Open the caliper bleed nipple, let the excess ooze out, shut it and try again. Usually works!
