[#707191]

I have an Evil Sovereign which is, quite frankly, wonderful. However, I'm having real issues with the seatpost and the shim.

The original shim that comes with the frame drops from 32.6mm to 31.6mm. Obviously no one makes a 32.6mm post. The original shim got damaged so had to be replaced and I'm now using a Use 32.4mm to 31.6mm one- the nearest I could find.

However, if I grease the post it slips very slowly unless I use an allen bolt clamp, which I don't want. If I don't grease the post it's really difficult to raise or lower the post.

I was wondering if I swapped from a 32.4/31.6mm shim to a 32.4mm/27.2mmm shim and post then the extra thickness of the shim would mean the clamping force is effected less by the 0.2mm difference in shim and frame size and the clamp will be tight again?

I've e-mailed silverfish, who cna't get the shims from Evil, and Evil, who didn't bother replying (new management I'm guessing).

Can you get a 32.4 -> 31.4 or something else with the correct drop in size?(I've happily done so in the past)...or get a good shim then but a seatpost to match (eg alloy shim to 28.6 then 28.6 post)?

Or get something knocked up by a mech eng pal?

Oneoneoneone- that'd be brilliant. I'll send you an e-mail nearer the time if that's cool?
