Looking at some new bikes especially the 2015 Whyte G150.

I am concerned about the kink in the seat tube. There is a kink in my current Specialized bike but the kink is lower.

Does this limit the distance that you can lower the saddle? This question applies to bike design in general not just the Whyte above.

Anyone else bothered by this design.

After a quick scan of some bikes, I found the Nukeproofs I found do not have this kink.

On a similar point, not had a Reverb seat post on a bike before, are people happy with the range of seat height from highest to lowest position.

Get a dropper! Best thing ever!

Most now do 5-6" of drop. That should be more than enough.

Saw it on the Scott Sparks too when a friend was looking at them, fine if you own a dropper or run seat up all the time. But if your not one of those 2 it's a very limiting design.

I'd let is slide on a XC race bike but a lower priced trail bike no way.

Yes, it will stop you dropping the seatpost all the way, but that bike looks like it comes with a dropper post, so it's not really an issue, is it?

Not quite... I've got a 6 inch dropper, it's fine for everything bar full on downhill or really steep/scary nonsense, I sometimes drop it an inch or two in the frame for that sort of thing. But for "normal" riding it's grand.

It's odd but some bikes seem to want more drop than others- my hardtail's got a 5 inch drop and it just doesn't feel like less, but when I had that seatpost in the susser it wasn't enough.

That Whyte already has a reverb fitted. But it is odd that the post is already lowered into the frame as much as it can be so I guess getting the right size frame for your leg length is going to be critical as the saddle can only go up.
