Fancying an Island holiday next year or 2012 so I'm looking for ...something for 2 that takes a wee dog, thats next to the sea, on the West side of the island. I've had a quick look at South Uist & Barra but if anyone can reccommend something I'd be most grateful!

We did a trip to the Western Isles a year or so back, however as it was with a motorhome I can't comment on specific properties. My advice on areas though would be to look at either North Uist or Bernaray, as I thought them the most scenic. After that I'd probably have suggested Harris or the west coast of Lewis. South Uist is nice enough but less spectacular, Barra is lovely but being quite small there is less to do.

we visited Arran this year(motorhome again) but was a friendly little place with great trails and a real small island feel to it

Been a few years but there's a house / beach / phenomenal spot on Tiree which matches your requirements. Phone someone on Tiree and see if you can track down Trudy - owns a house on 'The Green' Trust me on this - fantastic location.

Try Glengorm castle on Mull. Stunning location and have at least one 2 person cottage. Plenty good mtbing on site.
