Apart from the fact its about 3 times the weight of an enduro bike it also looks like the weight is concentrated quite high in the frame and the HA are pretty steep.

I am gonna enjoy overtaking one of these down the blue at QECP on my Bird if one ever shows up there.

If the numpties riding them had any brains they'd just go night riding. That'd be excellent F** with the stupid great lights and no people around to moan at you!

Having just watched the start of the vid again a couple of other observations:

- The actual 'urban' riding is awful, wrong way up the road, up onto the pavement etc.

- The fella that he meets with has a terrible attitude, especially as he identifies himself as being 58 years old.  He definitely made a passive aggressive pass of the mother and child on the cattle grid.   It was like watching a gammon grooming session, the young lad seemed to be influenced by him in a 'trying to fit in with the older kids' responses.

Well he’s getting it on the comments on that original vid. Almost as many thumbs down as up, good work everyone.

Fwiw I’m pretty near to Swinley and I think I saw one of these on my local (MOD owned) trails. Was certainly doing way more than 15mph uphill. Given that the MOD are looking for any excuse to get ALL riding banned on their land, this type of thing is exactly the justification they need.

These sort of threads repeat every few weeks;
Walkers don't like cyclist
Cyclist don't like Ebikes
Cyclists don't like Emotorbikes
Cyclists don't like motorbikes
Horsey people don't like cyclists and vice versa.

Cyclists have a HUGE variety of places to cycle, emotorbikes and motorcyclists don't.

The problem isn't gonna go away, and not everyone is so trail precious or understanding of the potential damage as some of us are.

They all get tarred with the same brush, which isn't fair.

But obviously everyone should ride unassisted bikes and if they don't they are wrong hey!

Motorbikes on purpose built MTB trails is what this is about. Maybe you should read before posting the usual clichéd-say-nothing-rubbish.

Its a motorcycle. Its no different to me rocking up in a Tesla and hooning about, then claiming it's a go cart.

emotorbikes and motorcyclists don’t.

Maybe they do - maybe they don't. I don't really know..

BUT riding them on trails built specfically for BICYCLES is NOT the place to be taking these machines. Particularly on trails which are so popular with newbies i.e. families & young kids. It's reckless, dangerous & harming to the fragile relationship that the MTB community has at places like Swinley.

What is funny, in his vids he’s sitting there contemplating if there are any trails nearby, unaware there are several unofficial ones right next to him.

Cyclists don’t like motorbikes

Cyclists have no issue with motorbikes, they have problems with dickheads riding them on mtb trails

That's a good point and the reason I don't own a skidoo or an emoto then moan I've got no snow to use the skidoo or anywhere to ride my emoto.

On that vid that TINAS posted (@ 6min 05), he readily identifies it "an electric dirtbike" and acknowledges that it's not legal to ride on the road unless registered. That was January that vid was uploaded, so clearly happy to ride it illegally on the road, and be shall we be generous and say, 'flexible' with his interpretation of what it is.

I think he's getting the benefit of the doubt from many on here on the strength that he's not F'ing & Blinding and sounds a bit 'Tim-nice-but-dim'.

No actual figures given. If a brake can do the Mega, I’d personally find it acceptable on one of these. (Subject to riding it legally and not being a ****, obvs.)

It's a different level of braking though. On an MTB 20mph is fast, there's maybe 3 bits of Swinely that are above that (25, and the last couple of propper bits of the blue?) If you find a road decent and hit 30mph+ it starts to take a LONG time to slow down.

30mph, a motorbike will stop on a sixpence. Even a dirtbike with big where and small brakes.

Wrong sized wheels altogether. On that count alone those things should be banned.😂

Yeah, right. But only 15 seconds slower (6%) on a 4 min lap than a 250cc motorcross bike.

I’m going to call bullshit on this - I’ve briefly ridden one of these Sur-ron things and, even with me on board, there’d be far more than 15 seconds difference round a one mile track compared to a 250 KTM. The proper bike would out accelerate it, out brake it, out handle it, beat it on top end speed - there’s no question about any of this.

Eh? I can stop my mtb at least as quick as my motorcycle from 30+ mph Tandem due to its long wheelbase stops much quicker

They look like they are having fun.

As illegal as an unrestricted Ebike I suppose!

Well, the Sur-Ron fails all three legal requirements. Power output, top speed for assistance and not having a throttle over walking speed. So fails EAPC rules to a greater extent.

Its pretty clear that only proper law enforcement is going to stop him, he's not going to listen to anyone else.

Not posted any footage of use on the road this time.

'Is that a motorbike?' says a lady...'no it's electric' 🙄

Have Swinley bike hub or the rangers had anything to say on the matter yet?

They obviously know what they are doing is illegal and not the correct place to ride them, but I suppose they think it's just a little naughtiness rather than pissing off lots of people and don't care about anyone else or potential rights of access conflicts.

Either way the youtuber is a tool, but the guy he's with is a complete cock, especially with his kid about on one too.

Let's all just hope that he has an OTB. I imagine as those bikes way an absolute ton it could do some right damage to him if it landed on top of him.

Annoyingly he seems to have got the hang of it. Although there is a moment in his latest video where he says "yea, you just have to get used to cornering standing up" which gives an idea of his level 🤣 Although you can see the back wheels ripping up the berms on babymaker and 25 🤬

He's still slower than me on a Hardtail down there though so clearly there's a lot of accelerating and braking going on 😡

The Crown Estate with the police, are trying to actively catch these individuals. Locals who come across them can report their location to the Duty Forest Warden or 101.

I'm assuming they can't just show up at the youtuber's house? I suppose you need a more serious crime. Or they want to catch them at it.

He's called Alfie iirc.

Duxel is back this time thankfully not riding on MTB trails but still being a dick on paths etc. These two fellas seem to have no self awareness and concept of how they are perceived...

On YouTube Duxel has posted a vid at the summet swinley on a "normal" bike. Therefore he must have signed up to the bike hub or something (unless it was a demo day but don't think they have run these for a while)..should make it easier to trace him maybe if he takes that bloody electric thing out again in the forest.

That video: 13 minutes of dull, pointless crap before a dull, pointless chase by a fat dog on a fat man. Nothing happens.

I bloody hate these things. I see them as the natural extension of lazy riders.

Ummm... you do know Swinley has a car park?

That's all I can think of when I watch the vids, he's basically Jay in accent and character!

They could almost be a very subtle sitcom: "Look at that view, it's Slough trading estate" 😂

(twinges of The Office, This Country, Inbetweeners, Detectorists - I know STW will burn me for putting detectorists next to inbetweeners!)

I can't wait for the episode where we get their musings on Brexit!

The video at the start of the thread has gone unlisted now. Can't think why.
