Can't find any info - does a Saris fit?
I use a bones rs on a Clio and its perfect, it's says it can fit, go figure. Might just mean its not been tested with your car.
Bottom 'feet' of the Saris Bones sit on the bumper. Does a 2008 Focus have a bumper? If not you might have a problem...
I use one on a Mini and Forester without any problem - the rack is excellent if it'll fit.

Thanks for the replies - very much in the same tone as Saris; try it and see. I'll find a friendly LBS and have a play. Quite a few manufacturers specifically exclude the Focus due to the plastic spoiler, and possibly the slope of the rear screen.
