There's one on Ebay at the moment THIS ONE which the owner has said is 4 or 5 years old ??????
I would guess at '98 going by the forks and quite fancy doing a 'retro build' but would appreciate if someone actually knows the year.
Cheers
7+ years old. I'd imagine you'll get something a lot more current for not much more than that will go for.
True. There's a few on there including a couple of very nice Bullits but this one is close by and its age means I have the perfect excuse to not make an @rse of myself trying to be 'core ๐
looks the same as my 98 heckler which i believe ran till 00 in that guise before some changes
only thing is sellers not showing the disk mounts - if it has any .... early hecklers were v only werent they ? 97ish . and the forks could possibly have those stupid twin disk mounts ...
I had a pair of those which was what made me think '98. I'm assuming it's 'v' only and the seller has been cute with the pic as well as economical with the truth!
would be 97bam in orange with the dual disk mounts , which would go inline with the frame having no disk mounts ...
i had 98 bam in orange which had the single is mount- and 99s in snot green as well as the 99cr in orange + silver ( and no not all at once)
98 heckler had a disk mount for sure - i had a kawa green one up till 18 months ago , it rocked - light but took a beating. Raced it at mayhem solo - where its lack of mud clearance was never an issue & did the entire SXC series on it
These still build into a very good bike, still using my '99, but if it's close it would be worth checking out if your interested to see if it has disk mounts on the rear swing arm - although in the photo it looks although it has the later shape dropouts and the beginning of the top of the disk mount, and check the welds on the bottom of the dropouts on the rear swingarm too as some stress-cracked there - on later models they increased the length of the weld.
Cheers Kojac. I've sent a question re the disc mounts.
I'm also assuming the egometry was designed around 100-120mm forks. What are you running on yours?
There's a few on there including a couple of very nice Bullits
Just as a side note, the Heckler and the Bullit are both lovely, but two very different bikes; Heckler is a great all-rounder, Bullit is noticeably biased toward going down the hill.
