So after 20+ years of loving my Ti Brooks B17 I've decided to go for something a little narrower at the rear, a little bit lighter and something more waterproof. The B17 is like a couch...I've never had a niggle but after the last 4 months of rain here in sunny Glasgow, I can't be doing much good to the Brooks leather despite liberal applications of wax etc.

On a slight aside I'm always 'aware' of it's width as I hang off the rear even when it's dropped so something narrower would be welcome.

So far I've tried the following narrower saddles:

The new Cambium C15...ouch...not for me. WAY harder than the leather version...although the C15 is slightly narrower.
The new Fabric Ti Scoop radius race...marginally better-ish...but still a long way off the B17.

Having already forked out hard earned money on two saddles can anyone suggest an alternative before I fork out more good money.

Sadly, it may be that there's nothing as comfy as my old couch!

Cheers

I have previously had a B17 champion special which was very comfy but had same concerns as you,
Have tried several saddles and found the best one for me so far is a Selle San marco Regal E, it has the same broad flat feel as a B17 but without the heft.

It did help that Planet X were knocking them out at around £25 over xmas.

Go to an LBS that does trial saddles and try as many as you can. Most Spec dealers will let you try a few and I know that Selle Italia and Fizik have trial saddles at some shops. Yes, you'll end up paying full price for the one you choose but you'll also know it's one that works.
