Does anyone know the area?

A group of us are thinking about going later in the summer, and accommodation may be easier to find in Zel am See rather than closer to the actual bike park area. I want to know what the transport options would be like for getting to Saalbach-Hinterglemm, ie do the lifts still link up the area in the summer, or is there a bike bus running up the valley?

Some of the normal buses have bike racks on the back (but not all).
No specific bike bus though.
Download the ÖBB Scotty app, you’ll see that the 680 bus goes every hour from Zell to Saalbach, could be worth an email to ÖBB to ask if it definitely always has a rack.
There is a cycle path all the way up the Saalbach valley but it would be a gradual uphill slog from Zell.
At the moment, the lifts linking Zell to Viehofen (first little village in Saalbach valley) don’t run in Summer, not sure about this year though.
If you were on ebikes I’d say it was feasible or if you can ascertain whether there would definitely always be a bus with a bike rack in the morning. Big Time Bikes in Maishofen (Zell end of the Saalbach valley) might know if you drop them an email.

Depending on when you go I might be there, I’d be happy to meet up and do a bit of guiding.

Another thought.
I’d you do find somewhere to stay in Saalbach/Hinterglemm they will probably provide a Joker Card which covers your lift pass. You probably wouldn’t get that from somewhere in Zell.
I’d definitely try to get somewhere in Saalbach, it’s downhill slightly from Hinterglemm so is an easy ride down to valley if you finish the day in Hinterglemm, and you also have to option of finishing the day in Leogang and riding back over.
Saalbach is a bit bigger than Hinterglemm too and has an outdoor Lido

Your a local colp?

Do you know any good sites I could look at to rent a Chalet for group booking in the area?

We are organising it last minute this year, and the easy option for everyone else is to just go to Morzine again, but I would like to try somewhere different, so it is down to me to present a good option to the group to convince them to have a change.

We have a place in Maria Alm, 15mins from Leogang, I’ve been riding there all Summer for the past 10 years.
I don’t have any contacts for accommodation in Saalbach sorry, I know there’s a guy on Snowheads (Tatman’s Tours) who’s based there.

Are you group decent riders? I ask because if not, the riding there could potentially be limited as they could struggle on some of the tracks. The Morzine area has more riding but there’s definitely enough for a good week in S/H/L if they are happy on some DH tracks too, and the tracks are well maintained. Also, they hold up well in wet weather.
Leogang built a few new enduro type tracks last year which were a great improvement.
