Well about 5 people have given the same name of a kid who lives about 300m away. Currently sitting outside his house waiting for him to take the dog for a walk.

Mate I’d just phone the police and tell them I seen him going into the house with it. If they pitch and up and search the house and find it then great if it’s not there then you can just say you must’ve been mistaken.

+1 for calling the rozzers,

Good luck, hope you get it back and the little scrote gets his collar felt.

Derbyshire constabulary? If you can get a crime reference number for the insurance company, you've done well. Doubt anyone would attend today, by which time, your bike is long gone.

Is this the first live surveillance thread? I hope you get it back.

I know someone who lives in the cottages on the left heading in to Bamford and I’m pretty sure he has CCTV on the front of his house. If you need more footage let me know and I’ll ask him.

I’ve put it on Ride Sheffield for you. Definitely pursue the cops as a partial registration must be traceable.

Did he break into your car or did you just leave it for a moment? Also have a look for local stolen bikes groups on Facebook, the one in Cambridge is very active. Often names and addresses of thieves being posted, fingers crossed one of them will get a “slap” soon.

We were sitting outside not 5m away and he snuck up the steps and took it from behind us. Some balls

It wasn't locked because it was literally behind us. He could see us when he took it. We had our backs to the bikes never expecting them to go as we were there.

me? no (not intentionally anyway) - had assumed he'd at least have snapped something off and that'd have made a noise too, is all

Wow! That is brazen, I’m very careful but think I’d even leave unlocked if that close. Have you got it registered on bike registar that way if it turns up at a bike shop they should alert you.

Doesn't belong to a Skoda, regardless of what the prefix is.

Are you sure it’s a 57 not a 67 plate?

I’m struggling to reconcile a scrote like that having a car like that legally…

It's a pre-facelift model, they're getting old now so pretty affordable even without supplementing your income with crime.

Thule Touring box on the roof. Why?

Use a box on ours when we go on holiday because not every to big fits in the boot with an adult GSD. Also have 3 kids

Police just rang. No partial match on anpr or that colour or model octavia triggered anything. Case closed

Find it hard to believe given just how much our movements are recorded.

Be a different story if you were a golfing or lodge buddy if the PCC or Chief Constable

Just hoping someone in Hathersage has a full plate and they'll reopen the case

Google says this appeared on Gumtree in Newcastle 20 hours ago, but it's now been removed. Photos however are from "ebayimg", and it's not on eBay now either.

Missing offside-front headlight washer cover and lower air dam portion. Santa Cruz stickers on the boot. Rear wiper missing. There's also a woman (same one?) sat in the Audi in the background.

How much of the plate did you tell them? I’d just give them ****JSY if you’re not sure. I had this with a fail to stop when a van crashed in to my parked car outside my house. I got one character wrong but police initially closed it with no match. I then spent an hour on the DVLA checker trying all combinations and eventually got it. Police then reopened it and charged and fined the bloke.

Of course if it is false plates then you’ve no chance but don’t give up just yet. Get the name and number of a policeman who they allocated it to and hassle them.

Photos I posted above were taken outside "The Fone Shop", 5 St Anthony's Rd (got it from the piece of phone number). They have CCTV on that spot.

I'm confused about the above? How's it fit?

It's the same car and colour. It has some distinguishing features that you could cross-check against your CCTV if you have more angles. It appeared for sale on the day of theft but today has disappeared. There is a woman present both at the theft and in that photo. The stickers indicate an MTB interest. No it's not a robust lead but it's something. Also it's uninsured and has been untaxed since 15 July.

I really hope you've not got the wrong guy. But if you have then I hope he gets all that's coming to him.

Would the police be more interested if the theft was a handbag or shop till or a car?
