Was riding at Woburn on Sunday morning, and got talking to some guys about the new trails at Rushmere.
Has anyone risen these and if so what are they like?

Cheers
Ben

I was somewhat underwhelmed but always nice to have new trails so shouldn't complain.

There's a bit of info here;

Overall it's okay but nothing to write home about.

Trails are good but short and the route signage is shocking. On it's own it's very limited. If you know the area you can link it up with other local spots and then you can start getting the most out of it.

Personally, although Rushmere is literally right on my back door step, I prefer Brickhill in my local area.

One thing to add is that I believe they are now charging for parking so given what's there I would definitely ride in from elsewhere rather than driving.

Thanks for the replies, I'd spotted that thread Timmys but as it was a couple of months old I thought I see if any new info.
I live in Aylesbury and have until recently ridden Wendover and north chilterns etc when staying local, but lately I've been really enjoying Woburn, which is just close enough to get to for a quick 2-3hr Sunday ride, before family commitments take over.
Elliot-20 you mentioned Brickhills, what's there?

Cheers
Ben

Nice Pic Elliot-20, looks like woburn?

Hi Jedi,
I agree about Woburn, have found some good stuff, i'm sure there us more.
I've been trying to put into place some of the skills you showed me earlier in the year.
Will be coming back next year for some more.

Ben

Sorry, I've probably confused you, what is generally referred to as 'Woburn' I've always called it Brickhill Woods. (Little Brickhill, Bow Brickhill, Apsley Heath and Woburn Sands)

Away from the Woburn jump spot and past Bow Brickhill church and towards the A5 and Little Brickhill there is a fair amount of 'off piste' trails if you know where to look...

^ oh yes.

Once you get to know the area you can easily put together some nice long singletrack routes. Be aware tho that not all of it is 'open' to bikes and that which is does require a permit.

And by-the-way, I can't take the credit for the photo. It was shot by a good friend of mine, Frazer Waller whilst helping bed in the Rushmere Trails.

I wonder if you've not found all the Rushmere stuff?
I've not ridden MTB for nearly a year now, but I have linked the following.
Rushmere
Stockgrove, with it's older man made trails and BWs
Across the A5
Woburn/Apsley woods, hours of riding there.
Millbrook area (where they're building the new center parcs.
And back.
BTW you are meant to have permits.

Sounds like I need to have a good look at the map and try to plan a decent route.
Rushmere, Stockgrove and then onto Woburn/Apsley woods is a good shout.

Or I might try and hook up with the Cylone Club on a Sunday morning, looked at their website they look like a friendly bunch so will hopefully be happy to show me around.

Problem is cosyrush, it that most of the trails aren't on the maps.
That route I've listed can take six plus hours of fast paced non stop XC.
When you hit Woburn you need to ride a 'cloverleaf' route to do the lot.
Then cross the road by the play area, do the other side then exit towards Lidlington. You don't double back, and the loop returns through Woburn safari Park.
If you want to spend all day...and night riding you can link the last bit to Chicksands. I took MBR off road from Woburn to Chicksands some years back. We didn't do the return leg though as it snowed!

Hi Oldgit,
Don't think I want anything that extreme, would just like to try to put together a decent loop - 2-3 hrs riding.
You know - get up early, have a decent ride, get back home for family stuff without loosing the whole day.

First time rode a Woburn I didn't find any of the good stuff, it's only by exploring a little and talking to other riders that you get to find the good bits.
I'm sure there is loads more at Woburn, I've only really ridden from the Chruch Rd CP to what I think is the roller coaster and then two other sections close to that.
Plus a couple of nice bits from the jump park through the woods and back to the CP.

If I had an MTB I'd show you about. I rarely rode the lot, just trying to make a point about the quantity of riding out there.
That said I might have an mtb up and running soon....typical old guys MTB SIDs and V brakes.
The Buzzards meet near Stockgrove Park every Tuesday at 7pm rain or shine.

BTW Stockgrove is great place to leave the car as it has a car park and good little cafe.

You have to pay to park at Stockgrove now.

IMO there is enough now over the Stockgrove/Rushmere way to make it a worthwhile trip and does add additional mileage. I agree about the signage and the new trails seem to come to an abrupt end with no where to go legally but back on your self.

I’ll be up there early Saturday if anyone wants some pointers.

@cossyrush shame I'm not about over the next few weekends, stuff and a little place called Afan is getting in the way, otherwise myself and a couple of the other guys I ride with would be more than happy for you to tag along.

Like yourself, my sunday morning usually consist of a few hours ride and back home for family stuff before the morning's out.

Feel free to let me know if you ever venture this way and need a local.

Rob,

Jase I might be hitting the trails again, slapping together my lads Dirty Jo with V brakes and 80mm's of awsum'ness.

Do the Stocky trails need a work party to clear the trails?
