60-80g of sugar, half a teaspoon of salt and mix with low sugar cordial will be good for 1 litre
What if he wants 2 litres of drink though?

Be fine
Can't believe I've been riding all this time without energy drink.....what was I thinking?!

Unless your riding at a pretty high level I fail to see what can't be done with water & a cheese sarnie
Absolute tosh, a ginsters sausage roll is far superior
Plenty of nutrients in man juice, just knock one out into your bidon & top up with water!

"I sometimes dump in one of those berroca caffeine things too."
Who has to drink it afterwards?
Please don't post that sort of thing in a thread I'm likely to read while having my morning coffee :spluttersmiley:
I used to run long distances a lot in Oz including summer and I found plain water the best. A squirt of concentrated lemon juice makes it palatable even when its warm. I never added salt because if your levels are right and you keep your fluid intake up, then you won't lose any significant amount.
Separating fluids from energy means you can swallow more fluids when you need it. There's lots of energy available from Jelly Babies.
If you're racing, then none of this is relevant.

I'm still alive.
As an aside, although it wasn’t a very scientific test I didn’t feel as good as I have on previous rides when I’ve used ‘proper’ energy drink.
