Cup of hot water.... Mix in some nice honey, add a couple tea spoons of salt.... A splash of lime juice (fresh or concentrate) and top up with water...... Cheap as chips! As good as an energy drink. All they are is salt and chemicals to make them taste nice. All marketing BS (IMO)

Can't go to Sainsburys as I'd have to ride and I have no energy drink ๐Ÿ˜†

But I do have honey and salt. No lime juice, will lemon do?

Yeah! Lemon will be lovely ๐Ÿ™‚ I sometimes dump in one of those berroca caffeine things too. Honestly so cheap! Those energy things are convenient but so expensive for what they are

Who has to drink it afterwards? ๐Ÿ˜ฏ

Actually lemon is bad and will slow your metabolism down so best not to risk it and stick to water. Ha

Piss is actually supposed to be quite good for you, and its served warm so you won't need to worry about keeping it cold. ๐Ÿ˜‰

Um Coke.

Is that one of those fancy dan cocktails? Um Bongo mixed with Coca Cola?

Well, the Congo is in the same continent as Kenya, so....

So if the honey/lemon thing doesn't work my riding buddies will be able to help me out.

Unless your riding at a pretty high level I fail to see what can't be done with water & a cheese sarnie ๐Ÿ˜€

I'd use MTFU juice myself.
You're going out for a ride not trying to win the tour.

Not sure how "energy drink" would stop dehydration any better than water.
Not sure how "energy drink" would stop a bonk any better than food.

I'd not call him a girl but i might call him southern. ๐Ÿ˜‰

Honey is a good idea, you could use it to fix your tyres as well, if needed. ๐Ÿ™‚

Water....I am guessing here, that it is just me ? But If I drink water on the ride I almost always bonk about a minute later.

I almost always use water with apple or orange juice added. Lately been diluting coke at about 30 water to 1 coke.

Water + jelly babies/kendal mint cake

Weak squash, one sugar and pinch of salt

As (2) but with diluted fruit juice

all three work for me!

2 teaspoons of salt? How many gallon are you making.

Water, Haribo and packet of salted peanuts. No not as a drink.

Why are people so keen to add salt? If you eat just about any food during the week out of a packet of any sort you will have already had too much salt...

I've used half and half orange or apple juice and water, with a smidge of salt in. Failing that, and if you don't trust homebrew and the ride will be ruined without - 4 bottles of lucozade sport emptied into your camelbak tomorrow morning, which you can get from any garage or newsagent you'll pass on the way to riding in the morning.

Yeah, 'cos when I'm slogging it up a climb in 30 degree heat, I often wish I could reach for the refreshing properties of a bottle of warm piss... ๐Ÿ˜•

Very good : )

A couple of years ago I started the 'garage nutrition plan' and found that ginsters, peanut-based chocolate items, cereal bars and the odd bottle of lucozade can fuel as long a ride as I'll ever be capable of. And water is all I put in my backpack.

a couple tea spoons of salt
Really? Way too much..
