[Closed] RS Revs, poploc not working, wrong oil?

Did a lower leg service last weekend and when I removed the lowers a lot of oil came out of the damper side, I didn't have any 15wt oil as recommended so used 7.5wt, forks work lovely but the poploc lockout no longer locks the fork, is this due to using lighter oil or have I managed to do something more serious?

You only did a LOWER leg service?
And there was a lot of oil?

If so, you have a leak my friend, and the lack of oil in the damper is preventing the lock out working. The lockout is hydraulic and the oil in the lower leg has no bearing on it at all.
There's a rubber O ring sealing the damper shaft at the bottom of the stanchion that most likely is the culprit. Very easy to replace, but you're gonna need some 5wt oil to refill the damper, and you'll need to look on the RockShox website for the exact oil volume needed for your particular fork.

Cheers PP

When I say a lot of oil, there was a lot more than in my Fox forks, forks were left on bike with bike upside down, undid the nuts and lifted lowers up and off, as I did there was quite a bit of oil leaked on to the floor, would guess at around 10mls, the RS site says to add 15mls when doing a lower leg service so I guessed the amount that came out was expected, if none should leak why would you add more when refitting lowers?

10ml is not "a lot" of oil. That is as you say normal lower leg lube volume.

Have you cycled the forks enough to get the motion control chamber working properly - IIRC the lockout or rebound tweaking bits wont work until the fluid is cycled through it.

Yes. That's normal. 15cc is the amount to put back in. So you probably don't have a leak then! ๐Ÿ™‚
If you've had the bike upside down that might be the culprit. Leave the fork unlocked and bounce it up and down a lot, go for a ride maybe. You might find its just the oil in the wrong place in the damper

Still very very easy to change the damping oil though, easier than doing the lowers I think. ๐Ÿ™‚

I am having a problem with the remote lockout on my 2012 revelation dual air.

It will lockout fine but when I press the button on the pop lock it isn't releasing fully? The cable has been cleaned and there is no restricted movement on it?

have taken the remote gubbins off the top of the fork leg amd gave it a clean but it has made no difference?

Any ideas?

Cheers

Steve

Since the lower leg service the bike has done over 70km so hopefully the oil has circulated through the damper, maybe need to change to correct weight oil and see if that makes a difference.

I did a full strip & rebuild, replacing all the seals on some Pikes, but no matter what I tried the lockout wouldn't work. Wouldn't even partially lock. I sold them as needing attention in the end. Without replacing the whole MoCo unit, I'd had enough of them.
